MPO Round 3 Recap

Who is winning the 2024 Ledgestone Open in MPO after Round 3?

1st - Gannon Buhr at 29 under par

2nd - Kyle Klein at 24 under par

3rd - Ezra Robinson at 23 under par

Quote from the leader: “The momentum started with a lot of not-so-great putts squeaking in,” Buhr said. “I don’t feel comfortable yet at all. At the Portland Open this year I was up 10 and I was still nervous. Five strokes is a good cushion. If I can keep my head in it, focus on the holes that have hard drop zones, and stick to the same game plan, there’s no reason I should shoot a bad round. My goal is still to shoot 40 under.”

Game-changing moment: Jakub Semerád sent shockwaves through the lower part of Eureka Temp with an ace on Hole 7. It was the only ace on the day and seemed to spark something in the Czechia star. Semerád went on to birdie six of the next nine holes and looked poised to be the one who would push Buhr the most. In real time, after his birdie on Hole 16, Semerád had climbed to within two strokes of Buhr.

Summary of Round 3: The temperature was up, but the wind was down, and at Eureka Temp that means an opportunity to attack. Hole 13, which gave up one birdie during Round 2, saw six birdies during Round 3. The daunting Hole 17 island also played slightly easier as well. Robinson and Semerád were the ones who took advantage early. The aforementioned ace helped Semerád, but Robinson shot the hot round for the tournament so far with birdie after birdie. He began the day at 9 under through 12 holes, a pace that only slowed after a bogey on the difficult Hole 13 which played as the hardest hole for the second straight day. But despite huge moments from Robinson and Semerád, Buhr was unfazed. After Round 2 he said he felt like he was cruising to an 11 under, and the Discmania star delivered again to jump out in front by five strokes heading into Championship Sunday.
