MPO Final Round Recap

Who won the 2024 Ledgestone Open in MPO?

1st - Gannon Buhr at 38 under par

2nd - Ezra Robinson at 31 under par

3rd - Chris Dickerson at 30 under par

3rd - Calvin Heimburg at 30 under par

Quote from the champion: “I was great from Circle 1 all weekend, but it was a shaky start today,” Buhr said. “Kyle, Ezra and Isaac were all pushing me early on and I think it was a good thing because it helped wake me up. After Hole 11, when I hit a 40-footer at the death and Ezra took a par, I was up by five and I was able to get the momentum back.”

Game-changing moment: Gannon Buhr's missed birdie putt on Hole 1 didn't end up impacting much of anything, but in the moment it put his competitors on notice that there were some nerves. Those nerves reappeared on Hole 2 in the form of a double bogey and the door was truly opened. Unfortunately for the spectators looking for a classic battle down the stretch, no one walked through. At minimum, it gave the fans a few more holes of intense disc golf before Buhr stabilized and blew away the field.

Summary of the Final Round: Buhr entered the day with a sizable cushion on Klein and the Robinson brothers. All he needed was a clean first couple of holes to set the tone and cruise to his first Ledgestone title. But a missed Circle 1 putt on Hole 1 hinted at Buhr's mental nervousness and another missed Circle 1 putt on Hole 2 confirmed it. His aforementioned double bogey on the second hole gave Klein a chance to cut Buhr's tournament lead down to one stroke, but Klein's birdie putt from circle's edge missed and landed OB. Isaac Robinson got off to a 3 under start and was only down by three strokes heading into Hole 5, but was unable to get over the baseball field. Ezra Robinson also had an opportunity to push Buhr, but matched Buhr's bogey on Hole 8 with a bogey of his own. Klein was the only player to make the gap in bounds on Hole 8 and was presented with another chance to cut Buhr's lead down to two, but once again, a missed birdie putt landed out of bounds and Klein was left wondering what could have been. Meanwhile, Paul McBeth tied the hot round for the event with a 12 under par to crack the Top 10, up from 19th at the start of the day. Ultimately, after no players took advantage of the slow start, Buhr stabilized on the back nine and cruised to a comfortable win.
