MPO Round 2 Recap

Who is leading MPO at the 2023 Ledgestone Open after Round 2?

1st - Cole Redalen at 19-under par

Tied 2nd - Calvin Heimburg at 18-under par

Tied 2nd - Ezra Robinson at 18-under par

Quote from the leader: “Sometimes it just feels like something takes over and you’re not missing a shot,” Redalen said. “I just walked up to every shot with commitment while also playing the smart shot.”

“I knew I needed to birdie hole 18 to tie the course record, but honestly that’s not where my mind was at. I was just thankful for where I was. A lot of people would have given a lot to have the round I had today.”

Game-changing moment: Bullseyes from Redalen on holes 5 and 6 woke him up from a slow start. Those two holes jumpstarted a groundbreaking run as the DGA star birdied 10 of his final 14 holes, tying the course record at 9-under par. Redalen far outpaced the field and reached Circle 1 with a chance for birdie 61% of the time. The next closest competitor to that statistic was Casey White at 44%.

Summary of MPO Round 2: Brodie Smith stole the show early on with five birdies on the first eight holes, a start that vaulted him into the solo lead. But Smith fell off the pace down the stretch allowing Robinson and Heimburg to cruise atop the leaderboard for the majority of the round. Redalen then got hot from the chase card on the back half of the course and forced a tie with Heimburg at 19-under par. Heimburg’s par putt from 25 feet on hole 18 came up short to drop him into second with Robinson and put Redalen in the driver’s seat heading into moving day.
