Ledgestone Disc Golf and Village of Forsyth Announce 36-Hole Expansion at Village Park

Forsyth, IL — Ledgestone Disc Golf is proud to announce a major partnership with the Village of Forsyth to redesign and expand disc golf at Village Park, transforming the property into a premier 36-hole destination for players of all skill levels.

The project includes a full redesign of the existing course along with the development of a brand-new championship-level layout. When complete, Village Park will feature two distinct 18-hole courses that provide different but complementary playing experiences:

  • A longer, blue-level Championship course located west of the creek that runs through the park.
  • A shorter, white-level recreational course located east of the creek, designed to be welcoming for newer players while still offering meaningful shot variety and technical challenge.

The redesigned white-level course will expand into wooded areas near the current layout, introducing several new wooded holes that add shot shaping, variety, and a stronger connection to the park’s natural landscape.

On the west side of the creek, new land along W Forsyth Road and W Forsyth Parkway — currently prairie terrain — will be transformed into a true championship setting. Working closely with Village leadership, the Ledgestone design team plans to enhance this open area with strategic tree plantings and large landscaped mounds to create elevation, visual character, and competitive shot demands. The goal is to shape a layout that feels intentional and dynamic while maintaining the open beauty of the property.

The design was led by Ledgestone Disc Golf and reflects the organization’s experience designing competitive courses and hosting nationally recognized tournaments. Both courses will begin in the same general area, allowing convenient parking and access for all players, whether they are playing casually or competing at a high level.

“We are very excited to partner with the Village of Forsyth on this exciting new property to create 36 holes of disc golf at Village Park,” said Nate Heinold, CEO of Ledgestone Disc Golf. “This design, when complete, will allow local residents and out-of-town players to experience two diverse and exciting disc golf courses in one park. We can't wait to debut these two courses at this year's Forsyth Open.”

“This project aligns directly with our Village goals of strengthening quality of life, supporting economic vitality, and making thoughtful long-term investments in our parks system. Expanding Village Park to 36 holes creates meaningful recreational opportunities for residents of all ages while also positioning Forsyth as a regional destination for tournaments and weekend visitors. We are proud to partner with Ledgestone Disc Golf on a project that reflects both community pride and strategic growth,” said Jill Applebee, Village Administrator for the Village of Forsyth.

Both courses are scheduled to open prior to the 10th Annual Forsyth Open, taking place July 10–12. This milestone edition of the event will feature a record $12,000 in added cash, marking the largest purse in the tournament’s history.

Both the blue-level Championship course and the white-level recreational course will be utilized during this year’s event, with detailed course scheduling to be released in March.

This expansion represents a significant investment in the future of Village Park and the Forsyth community. By offering two distinct courses in one location, the project will provide everyday recreational opportunities for residents while also attracting regional players for tournaments and weekend visits.

Village Park is positioned to become one of Central Illinois’ premier disc golf destinations — serving beginners, competitive players, and visitors alike.
