FPO Round 3 Recap

Who is leading FPO at the 2023 Ledgestone Open after Round 3?

1st - Missy Gannon at 12-under par

Tied 2nd - Ohn Scoggins at 8-under par

Tied 2nd - Ella Hansen at 8-under par

Quote from the leader: “I was throwing the disc well but I wasn’t getting those next putts to fall,” Gannon said. “I just stayed patient and tried not to think about the scores. There was so much golf left at that point. Anything can happen out there.”

“I’m going to go into Northwood thinking it’s all even. I don’t want to think about protecting my score at all. I still want to attack Northwood the way that I practiced.”

Game-changing moment: With Ohn Scoggins one stroke back and Holyn Handley closing in quickly from the chase card, Gannon was struggling to hold onto her lead with minimal birdie looks. Coming off a birdie on hole 9 to maintain the sole lead, Gannon found herself with a Circle 2 for birdie on hole 10 to apply further pressure. From 50 feet away, Gannon confidently stepped up and drilled the chains, beginning a back nine that ultimately separated her from the rest of the field.

Summary of Round 3: Rain was the story early on. A wet course got even sloppier as precipitation continued to fall for the first half of the round. Handley excelled in the wet conditions to draw within one stroke of Gannon in first place. The rain finally began to slow down as players reached the halfway point, but conditions stayed difficult as the rain was replaced by wind. The wind stalled Handley’s hot start and Scoggins’ smooth round, but Gannon navigated it with skill. The leader found three birdies on the back nine en route to a bogey-free round and a 4-stroke advantage.
