Who is leading FPO at the 2023 Ledgestone Open?
1st - Missy Gannon at 2-under par
Tied 2nd - Stephanie Vincent at 1-under par
Tied 2nd - Ella Hansen at 1-under par
Quote from the leader: “I feel pretty good overall,” Gannon said. “Thankfully I only shot single-bogies. It’s all about staying aggressive as we head to Sunset and trying to get as many birdies as you can. Most of the field is going to shoot hot out there.”
Game-changing moment: Gannon took the front of the FPO field mere seconds after teeing off on the final card of the day. Her monster drive on hole 1 pured the right side of the fairway, snaked through the trees, got a slide on the wood chips, and finished in the bullseye. It was the only birdie of the day across the division. In fact, Gannon is the first FPO player to ever birdie hole 1 at Northwood Black.
Summary of Round 1: Gannon led from the get-go and stretched her lead to as many as three strokes at one point. A brilliant up-shot on hole 9, followed by 20-foot birdie putts on holes 10 and 11 helped her jump out in front, but a bumpy finish with two bogeys in the final three holes brought her back to the field. She now holds a narrow lead as 11 players sit within five strokes.
