Who won the 2023 Ledgestone Open in FPO?
1st - Missy Gannon at 16-under par
2nd - Ohn Scoggins at 12-under par
Tied 3rd - Ella Hansen at 11-under par
Tied 3rd - Sarah Hokom at 11-under par
Quote from the leader: “I never thought I’d be a back-to-back champion,” Gannon said. “It’s just so hard to do now. But I thought this might be the chance to do it. These are the courses I play so well at and I feel so comfortable here. Sometimes courses just suit your game and your shot shapes. It’s a place I love coming back to.”
Game-changing moment: Gannon entered the round with a sizeable 4-stroke cushion, but Ella Hansen was aggressive early. By hole 5, Gannon’s lead had shrunk to one. But the defending champ stayed the course. She calmly stepped up to the fifth hole and hit the center of the landing zone before pitching around the corner for a Circle 1 birdie putt. The birdie on hole 5 gave Gannon a 2-stroke lead, but most importantly, it squashed the momentum of Hansen who would go on to bogey the next two holes.
Summary of the Final Round: Knowing she had ground to make up, Hansen pushed hard from the get-go. She found birdies on three of the first four holes to cut Gannon’s lead to one. But the two aforementioned bogeys on holes 6 and 7 stymied Hansen's hot start and she fell off the pace. Gannon caught fire heading into the back nine and extended her lead to six, allowing her to cruise through the home stretch with less pressure en route to a back-to-back Ledgestone Open title.
