I have been able to play a few rounds with the Scorch, and I love this disc! I am a recreational player, no PDGA number, with an intermediate arm speed. I usually play a few times a week, and consistently drive around 320 feet with decent accuracy. For years, my go-to driver has been the Heat. I can throw my Heat flat or on slight hyzer, and get a consistent flip-up, turn, slight low-speed finish. The Scorch is definitely a faster disc and flies more overstable, but thrown flat into a headwind performs much like my beloved Heat. I can throw it very hard flat or on slight anhyzer and trust it to come back. It is not stable enough to handle the torque of my forehand drives, so this will likely remain a backhand only disc for me.
The glide gear on the Scorch is awesome! It just stays in the air and gives me unexpected distance even on low lines through the trees. It keeps going and going! Even with 80% arm speed, I can push the distance that I expect from my other drivers.
I'm a big fan of the performance z-blend plastics from Discraft. I switched back to z-plastics after discovering that many of my ESP discs were getting too understable as they broke in and took rock and tree hits. I like the consistency of the z-blend plastics that seem to retain more even flight numbers as they break in. I currently am throwing a Ledgestone z-glow Zone, last year's Ledgestone z-metallic Heat, and now this z-swirl Scorch.
