FPO Round 1 Recap

Who is winning the 2024 Ledgestone Open in FPO?

1st - Missy Gannon at 9 under par

Tied 2nd - Lisa Fajkus at 7 under par

Tied 2nd - Ohn Scoggins at 7 under par

Tied 2nd - Holyn Handley at 7 under par

Quote from the leader: “I feel good,” Gannon said. “It’s always good to have a lead. I feel like I’m defending my home in a way. I’m making sure I’m staying committed to my shots. I did a good job putting today, so if that can stay on, I’ll be feeling good. There’s a lot more OB now and they’ve tightened up some lines, so that’s making it more difficult, but you still feel like when you’re getting a par, or especially a bogey, that you’re losing strokes.”

Game-changing moment: Gannon caught fire on Hole 12. She was one of three players to birdie what turned out to be the third hardest hole on the day. She used that bonus birdie to jumpstart a run of five straight holes under par, springboarding her to a four-stroke lead at the time. No other player managed to birdie more than three holes in that same stretch.

Summary of Round 1: Fajkus set the pace early with a 7 under par from the second card out in the morning. Jennifer Smiley got the excitement flowing not long after with an eagle on the par 5 Hole 6. Eventually the cream rose to the top over the course of the more difficult back nine, as Gannon, Scoggins and Handley managed a combined 15 under par on the last seven holes.
